Dil To Pagal Hai

1. Dil To Pagal Hai was originally supposed to be titled Maine To Mohabbat Ki Hai. The film was also called Tevar at one point, with Urmila Matondkar in Karisma Kapoor's role.
2. Shah Rukh Khan's clothes were designed by his good friend, Karan Johar, in the film.

3. The film's original cast included Akshaye Khanna as Akash, Hrithik Roshan as Siddharth and Saif Ali Khan as Sameer. Hrithik's role was offered to Abhishek Bachchan after the former refused to do it. But even Abhishek turned it down. Even Shiney Ahuja was zeroed in to play Sid, but that also didn't materialise. Then, Farhan Akhtar approached Aamir Khan who like the role. But Farhan had some other ideas, and he finally swapped Akshaye and Aamir's roles.
4. Sonali Kulkarni's role first went to Isha Koppikar, who refused it.

5. In a sequence during Neelam's show, the young boy, who pleads his girlfriend to leave him because he has fallen for someone else, is Nikhil Advani. And the girl who plays his new love interest is Farah Khan. Both filmmakers went on to direct SRK in their films later.
6. Kajol lost control of her bike during a song sequence, and injured her knee badly. The actress fell on the ground and lost consciousness for some time.
7. Saif Ali Khan was offered the role of Aman Mehra, but the actor refused it and that's how Salman Khan came on board.

9. Since Raj Malhotra is an NRI, the makers wanted to cast Tom Cruise to play the lead. But the idea was dropped eventually.
10. The scene where Kajol wakes up in a hotel room and gets worried about the last night, Aditya found it really a tough task to shoot it. Here's the amusing reason – the moment Shah Rukh would open his shirt to show a lipstick-marked chest, Kajol would burst out laughing. The scene finally was finally okayed after a number of retakes. Also, the lipistick marks were actually made by Kajol.

21. Mrinal Sen's 1969 film, Bhuvan Shome draws several parallels with Ashutosh Gowariker's 2001 drama, Lagaan. To start with, both the films' leads are called Bhuvan and Gauri. Suhasini Mulay, who plays the heroine in Bhuvan Shome, essays the role of Aamir Khan's mother in Lagaan. Both the films were shot in Gujarat. And last but not the least, Amitabh Bachchan is the narrator in both the flicks.

22. In one of the scenes, when Salman Khan says that he's watched Sholay ten times, Aamir Khan quips, "Iske baap ne likhi hai." As a matter of fact, Salman's father, Salim Khan had actually co-written Sholay with Javed Akhtar.
